Tosha M. Brown is a choreographer, dance educator and performing artist and was the dance and drama instructor at Main Street Elementary School before becoming the dance instructor at Orange High School in 2007. She was engaged in producing several writings and choreographic projects for her professional dance company. Ms. Brown received an M.F.A. degree in Dance and Theatre from Sarah Lawrence College and a B.F.A. degree in Dance & Theatre and Children’s Theatre from Howard University. She specializes in Folk Traditional, Theatre, and Modern style of movement forms found in the Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian, Peruvian, European and Asian Diaspora. Ms. Brown is also certified to teach The Method and Mat work of Joseph Pilates, as well as kickboxing, and personal training. A resident of The Netherlands for two years, she is fluent in three languages. She has taught dance technique, dance history, developed a Catholic School’s curriculum in General Science/Environmental Science, recruited, and mentored aspiring young performing artists in the public school system, universities, colleges, and private art institutions in New York City, New Jersey, and North Carolina for over fifteen years. Ms. Brown has performed with The Peru Negro Dance Ensemble, Phyllis Rose Dance Company, 21 Cap Theater, Ensemble Studio Theater, Howard Players, Kelcie Collie’s Children Theatre, Outreach Artists, BAM, St. Joseph’s Theatre, The Durham Art’s Council, Carolina Theatre, CAF’s Art’s Festival, and other Off-Broadway venues. She is a member of the Danspace Project, and The Ailey Extension. Ms. Brown has also appeared as an actress in several musicals, television showcases, videos and films.
