Helen Kwon is the art teacher at Oakwood Avenue Elementary School. Ms. Kwon has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Shortly after graduating in 1990, she worked briefly in the field of Graphic Design. She did her Post-Baccalaureate study at the School of Visual Arts in New York and became certified a K-12 Art Teacher in 1992. In 1998, she earned a Master’s of Arts degree in painting from Lehman College in Bronx, New York. Prior to her employment with the Orange Public Schools, she worked in the Plainfield, Bloomfield, and Randolph Public Schools. Ms. Kwon sets goals for her students to include high achievement in artistic performance, developing greater appreciation for the arts, and a greater sense of self-worth through learning and creating art.
